I asked time to stop for an instant,

but it was in a hurry.

I asked night to stay eternally,

but it brought a new day.

I listened to the words of silence

and he listened to mine.

Chiesi al tempo di fermarsi un istante,

ma egli era di fretta.

Chiesi alla notte di restare eternamente,

ma ella portò un nuovo giorno.

Ascoltai le parole del silenzio

e lui ascoltò le mie.
